Welcome to our web site. Meetings are every third Tuesday at the Post upstairs meeting room. Visitors are welcome.

2003 21st Ave.

Brief History: American Legion Post 2 was established in July 1921, along with Portland Post 1 establishing the Department of Oregon. The members started a funding drive around 1926 and built the building we are in about 1928.

We have hosted the Elks, a church, the National Guard and currently Scouting USA Troop 2060 and Cub Scouts Pack 2060. We currently lease our main auditorium to Regeneration Dance Studio. Our Legion Family includes a very active American Legion Auxiliary.

Current Activities: We are proud to hold a formal Memorial Day observation with the Scouts, the ALA, Oregon Air Guard and the local Army Guard Field Artillery Battalion. The Forest View Cemetery location we use holds the remains of over 1000 veterans where we lay a wreath at the Obelisk honoring the Grand Army of the Republic, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In addition we open the Forest Grove Corn Roast, lead off the Light Parade, and, jointly with the Fraternal Order of the Elks, host area Veterans for Veterans Day Lunch on the Sunday closest to 11/11.

We have taken over responsibility for placing over 3000 flags at the giant flag pole where 19th and Pacific Ave split to remember 9/11 using our Scouts troop help.

The Post has a Rifle Honors Squad and have been called to the Ft Stevens National Cemetery to render Honors as well as providing various iterations of Veterans Honors locally. We also provide a “Post Everlasting” ceremony around 11/11 for Jennings McCall Veterans who have passed on the previous year.

Services Available: The Post maintains an extensive inventory of medical assistance equipment such as wheel chairs, power chairs, walkers, canes, etc for those in need. We stand ready to do small DIY projects for Veterans in need. Come lend your hands in these efforts!!
